We’re Australia’s largest generator of clean, renewable energy, and champions for a sustainable future.
We employ more than 1300 people, including almost 800 Tasmanians. Our people are diverse, skilled, and passionate about a clean energy future for Tasmania and Australia. We support the ambitions of young Tasmanians through our graduate program, apprenticeships and internships.
Every year, we produce about 9000 gigawatt hours of clean electricity from hydropower – enough to power about 900,000 Australian homes and small businesses. We also generate from wind and gas. Our system has a total capacity of more than 2600 megawatts and includes 30 power stations and more than 50 major dams.
We engage stakeholders collaboratively and transparently to seek opportunities where we can maximise mutually beneficial outcomes for Tasmanians. Our engagement principles outline how we work together with community and other stakeholders.
In a typical year, we spend about $100 million on the goods and services of more than 800 Tasmanian suppliers. Our consulting arm, Entura, also makes a significant contribution. We're proud to support the Tasmanian community and economy through local business partnerships.
We're a Government Business Enterprise owned by the Tasmanian Government on behalf of the people of Tasmania. Our Board, led by Chairman Richard Bolt, and Executive Leadership Group, led by Acting CEO Erin van Maanen, follow high standards of corporate governance, ethics and prudent financial management to deliver the best outcomes for Tasmanians.
As a leader in renewable energy, hydropower, water management and dam safety, we are involved in a number of national associations.
Tasmania’s story is a Hydro story; a story of creating power for people. For more than a century, Tasmanians have relied on us. We're determined to honour and celebrate the stories of struggle, resilience and ingenuity that carried Tasmania into the full industrial era and made it a world leader in renewable energy.
We have implemented a change to remove our COVID-19 vaccination policy that required all employees, contractors, suppliers, volunteers, persons undertaking work placement and visitors (who are granted entry on site) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and supply proof of vaccination.
