By implementing biodiesel, Green house Gas emissions can be substantially reduced. A number of trials were undertaken at the King Island Advanced Hybrid Power Station in order to prove operation of biodiesel in one of the exiting diesel engines.

A blending plant was installed on site, allowing the operation of biofuel in any blend from 5-100%.

This gave us the opportunity to test not only operational characteristics of the engines, but also the fuel supply logistics, suitability of existing fuel infrastructure and trial the reliability of biodiesel suppliers.

The station is now capable of using up to B100 biodiesel (100% biodiesel) that can be blended on site.
