Wind turbine challenge

Challenge your students to design and build a fast wind turbine, tested on a voltmeter.  Students can redesign and repeat the test.  Includes an overview of renewable energy in Tasmania.

Engineer a turbine

Using recycled materials, students design and build a turbine that’s speed is tested by measuring RPM’s in the circulated water of the Turbinator. An overview of energy transfer is included.

Energy generation challenge 

Students create an energy plan for a town using various types of renewables by referencing maps and a Renewable Energy calculator. They must manage their budget and consider social and environmental impacts of their plans.

The trouble with tribbles and transfer

How do you transfer water from a water source to a power station? There are many considerations including the geology of an area, the plants and animals that inhabit an area and the cost of the method used to transfer the water. A giant, tactile 3D model of a Tasmanian landscape will help your students as they develop a proposal to transfer this water.
