A qualification in Engineering can open a whole range of career pathways. Engineers solve problems, design new equipment, maintain or replace old equipment and keep our machines operating safely and effectively. They also ensure our dams and civil infrastructure are structurally sound and safe. A qualification in Engineering can lead you to project management, energy trading or other senior management positions.
Electricians test our electrical equipment to ensure that it’s working safely and effectively and if they find a fault they will fix it. They are based at our sites throughout regional Tasmania, in the Derwent, North West, West Coast and Trevallyn areas and at our workshop in Cambridge near Hobart.
Our scientists are mainly focused on the water and environment. Environmental Scientists ensure that our operations are having as little impact on the natural environment as possible, and our specialist water scientists (also called Hydrographers or Hydrologists) study the flow of water from rivers, lakes and catchments to ensure we are getting the right water flow through our hydropower schemes while also minimising our environmental impact.
Commercial Analysts use mathematical and/or economic modelling skills to analyse large data sets to help us generate the most value from generating and trading electricity. Business Analysts work with various parts of our business (especially IT) to analyse processes and identify more effective and efficient ways of doing things.
