Hydro Tasmania Enterprise Agreement employees approve new offer

26 October 2022

Hydro Tasmania’s 2022 - 2025 Enterprise Agreement (Agreement) has been voted up by 62 per cent of EA employees today.

The Enterprise Agreement provides terms and conditions of employment for around 550 of Hydro Tasmania’s 1250 employees.

Hydro Tasmania’s Executive General Manager People, Culture and Engagement, Ruth Groom, said that the negotiation team had worked through a comprehensive employee engagement process to make updates and improvements on the previous enterprise agreement, based on employee feedback.

“Hydro Tasmania believes that the Agreement is a fair and reasonable offer that is market competitive for our employees and provides a sustainable value proposition for the business into the future,” she said. “This has been supported by a majority of EA employees.”

The Agreement includes modernised language to be more inclusive; improvements to travel and meal allowance provisions; increases in salaries for junior apprentices; and an overall base salary increase of between 2 and 3.5 per cent annually, with potential for a further 1.5 per cent based on performance. Other key items from the previous Enterprise Agreement, such as the availability of no debit sick leave, have also been maintained.

These updates are supported by other benefits outside the Agreement, such as the recently announced expanded parental leave policy (details here) and an increase in compassionate leave days.

Also today, Entura EA employees voted no to their Proposed Agreement. Negotiations between Entura, employee representatives and unions will continue.

Ends.
