Hydro Tasmania is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Chiba as the new Managing Director of its mainland energy retail business, Momentum Energy.

Hydro Tasmania Acting CEO Ian Brooksbank said Lisa is perfectly placed to lead Momentum Energy into its next phase of growth, having spent the past 20 years in a variety of leadership roles within the retail utilities and financial services sectors here in Australia and the UK.

Since returning from the UK, where she led customer services at iSupplyEnergy and worked with a range of well-known brands as a director in customer and digital practice at management consultancy, Baringa Partners, Lisa has been working with Origin Energy as Group Manager, Retail Growth and Governance.

Mr Brooksbank said Lisa already knows the Momentum Energy business through her role with Baringa Partners, where she worked with Momentum on customer strategy.

“Being part of the Hydro Tasmania family gives Momentum Energy a unique and strong position in the retail market,” said Lisa.

“I’m passionate about the role energy companies can and should play in the path to Net Zero and I’m really excited to start working with the team to define the next stage of Momentum’s strategy.”

Lisa’s appointment follows the resignation in August of Amy Childs.

Momentum Energy is a leading mid-tier energy retailer, headquartered in Melbourne and with a call centre and service team in Tasmania.
