Helping the helpers

4 June 2020

Hydro Tasmania has donated $3,000 in groceries with the assistance of No Frills Foodmarket, to four community and volunteer organisations that feed and support Tasmania’s homeless and most vulnerable.

  • Gran’s Van Association – providing help to the homeless and hidden poor of Devonport through their mobile food van
  • Loaves & Fishes Tasmania – producing healthy, nutritious ready-to-eat meals for emergency relief providers throughout Tasmania
  • Strike It Out – feeding Launceston’s and Burnie’s homeless every night and food parcels for people in need
  • Loui’s Van – operating in Hobart for the St Vincent de Paul Society, providing food and support to those in need.

No Frills Foodmarkets in both Devonport and Moonah have provided many of the items at cost and even added additional stock to do their bit to help.

Hydro Tasmania CEO Steve Davy said it’s important to think about how we can help the community during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“These organisations rely on donations and the goodwill of volunteers to look after people in desperate need,” Mr Davy said.

“Hydro Tasmania is proud to support the people who assist the most disadvantaged among us.”
