The people of Hydro Tasmania take pride in giving their time, effort and expertise to support Tasmanians.
The business today won the Volunteering Tasmania Corporate Award for an employee volunteering program, at the third annual Tasmanian Volunteering Awards at Government House.
It’s the third successive year that Hydro Tasmania has won that category. It recognises the excellence of the company’s employee volunteering program led by Kate Hickey.
The CEO of Hydro Tasmania, Steve Davy, said the business supports a wide range of community and charitable organisations to help people make a difference in their communities.
“Tasmanians are Hydro Tasmania’s owners, and most important customers. We all have a responsibility to make a positive contribution and build a better Tasmania,” Mr Davy said.
“We sponsor community events that attract visitors to Tasmania’s beautiful places, inspire pride, support Tasmanians, and showcase the talent and diversity of our island.
“Tasmanians are passionate about volunteering, and our people are no different. Each year, more than a quarter of our employees share that community spirit by volunteering with many different organisations,” he said.
Hydro Tasmania also sponsors the Excellence Award for Best Practice in Volunteer Management – won by Liz Lord of the Australian Wooden Boat Festival.
Through its annual Community Grant Program, the Hydro Tasmania provides at least six grants of up to $5,000 each year, for non-profit organisations making a real difference in Tasmanian communities.
Hydro Tasmania actively supports Colony 47, Volunteering Tasmania, The Smith Family and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and sponsors a range of community events.
