Hydro Tasmania has an agreement with Tasmanian company SFM Environmental Solutions to harvest submerged special species timber from Lake Pieman, in a venture known as Hydrowood.

Hydrowood has begun underwater logging operations at Lake Pieman/Reece Dam and this activity will continue for approximately two years.

An exclusion zone around the operation is defined with yellow buoys. Instructions stating the marine channel to use and other restrictions will be posted on signs. For more information visit the SFM website.
