Hydro Tasmania has reached a commercial agreement with Bell Bay Aluminium that will help Tasmania manage the current low water storage situation, due to low inflows and the current Basslink outage.

Hydro Tasmania has a long-standing relationship with Bell Bay Aluminium, which is the largest energy consumer in Tasmania.

The two businesses have been in discussions regarding the potential for load reduction since the Basslink outage in December last year.

Hydro Tasmania will work with Bell Bay Aluminium to minimise any impact on its business as a result of the load reduction. Hydro Tasmania will also explore redeployment opportunities for any affected contractors.
