Tasmanians are keenly embracing the opportunity to see some of the state’s biggest hydropower assets up close this month.

Hydro Tasmania is holding its annual power station tours at three major stations on the following dates:

• Gordon Power Station – Saturday 8 October.
• John Butters Power Station – Saturday 15 October.
• Trevallyn Power Station – Saturday 22 October.

Tours will run between 10am and 3pm at each location, departing every 20 minutes.

Hydro Tasmania’s Production and Maintenance Manager, Jesse Clark, said the tours have proven extremely popular, with only a handful of tickets remaining.

“Tasmanian hydropower has obviously been a very topical issue over the past nine months or so,” Mr Clark said.

“We’re pleased to give members of the community a rare opportunity to see first-hand how we generate clean renewable energy.

“Whether you love engineering, love Tasmanian heritage, or just love a fun day out with the family, our station tours are a very novel opportunity,” he said.

There’ll be a formal media opportunity at the Trevallyn Power Station tours:

Media visits to the Gordon and John Butters tours may be facilitated on request, but interview talent is unlikely to be available. The John Butters tours are operating in conjunction with The Unconformity festival at Queenstown.
