Information Technology (IT) Gain expertise in product design, cloud solutions, data management, SAP, project management, and service delivery. You'll work with experts, explore new technologies, and connect across the business – including visits to our power stations! Environment For graduates in environmental science or sustainability, this stream covers environmental analysis, impact assessments, and conservation strategies. You’ll work within cross-functional teams tackling climate change and resource management challenges.
Ideal for graduates from diverse fields such as business, economics, marketing, and communications. You’ll gain broad experience in areas like HR, community engagement, strategic policy, corporate strategy, and asset risk, developing skills that open up a range of career possibilities.

Develop expertise in corporate governance, compliance, contracts, and dispute resolution. You'll gain hands-on experience in legal document drafting, providing advice, and supporting organisational compliance initiatives. Commercial Software Developer Work closely with our energy trading teams to develop software solutions, gaining experience across coding, testing, and deployment in agile Scrum teams operating in the National Electricity Market. Accounting Build expertise in financial reporting, auditing, and management accounting. This stream offers practical experience in financial analysis, compliance, and risk management, providing insight into financial frameworks that shape business operations. Surveying Gain exposure to surveying disciplines such as deformation, engineering, and cadastral surveying. You'll work with cutting-edge technology, including UAVs and GNSS systems, while exploring Tasmania’s breathtaking landscapes.
Ideal for those passionate about data and analytics, this stream is suited to graduates in business, commerce, economics, or science. You'll gain experience across commercial risk, spot trading, and corporate finance, building analytical skills and a strong understanding of the National Electricity Market and business operations.

Once you complete your application (including resume, cover letter and your academic transcript), it will be reviewed by our Recruitment team.
If you are successful in reaching the next stage, you will receive an email invitation to complete online testing, which involves a series of questions to assess your behavioural and technical capabilities. Questions will be tailored to the stream you have applied for. All information on how to complete this testing will be included in the email invitation you receive.
If chosen to progress, the team will contact you to schedule an online assessment. There will be a two-week window to complete these, and we welcome any requests for reasonable adjustments that can help reduce or eliminate barriers to completing the assessment.
The final stage will be a 1:1 interview, with hiring managers in relevant fields to your line of study. These will be conducted in-person or online as required.
The program commences on the first Monday of February each year. You will undertake a comprehensive induction hosted in Hobart, Tasmania.

All programs run for two years, with the exception of the engineering and surveying streams which runs for three years.

The assessment centre is a key part of our recruitment process where you get a sneak peek into the organisation.
You will learn more about our business, meet some of our leaders and current graduates, and complete group activities. These will be held online.
The interview will be with experienced stakeholders currently working in your relevant discipline.
It will be a behavioural and competency style interview and will include a technical aspect. We recommend using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method to answer interview questions.
As part of our process, we will conduct some background checks, which include references, working rights check, a medical assessment and a police check. Medical assessments are conducted for relevant engineering roles and any role with significant field exposure including the Environment stream.
All costs associated with these checks are covered by us. We ask that you please complete all steps as soon as possible, as we are unable to make our final decision until all checks are finalised.
Graduates are provided with a development budget to spend each financial year. This budget will cover off any training requirements for rotations.
Additional core training activities are also scheduled in each year to support the development of self-awareness and interpersonal skills.
Rotations are dependent on your background and the current projects taking place across the business. These will be offered in consultation with you and leaders within the business.
When and where available, you'll be given the opportunity to rotate through Hydro Tasmania, including our regional sites throughout Tasmania, Momentum Energy and Entura.
