Heavy vehicle application for Pieman Road

Hydro Tasmania introduced a road limit on Pieman Road in September 2021. All vehicles over 20t who wish to travel this road require a permit. If you are unclear of any of the requirements, please contact our Works Coordinator – Roads and Vegetation on 0400 009 691 to discuss.

By selecting the check box below, the applicant acknowledged the following road conditions:

  1. Where practical and possible, all travel on the Route shall place the outer wheel path of the General Access Vehicle at least 300 mm from the edge of seal to minimise the occurrence of pavement failures and edge breaks.
  2. The General Access Vehicle must not travel on Farm Creek, Emu Railway or Huskisson bridges concurrently with any HML Vehicle. Information regarding these assets can be obtained by contacting Hydro (Craig Smith, 0400 009 691 or craig.smith@hydro.com.au).
  3. In the event that a General Access Vehicle damages any assets or infrastructure on the Route, the Applicant must immediately give notice of same to Hydro (Craig Smith, 0400 009 691 or craig.smith@hydro.com.au) and a written statement of the damage must be recorded and provided in writing to Hydro.

  1. HydroTas_R004 – Travel is restricted to daylight hours only.
  2. HydroTas_R005 – The loaded heavy vehicle is restricted to a maximum speed of 60 kph on the approved route, except where a traffic sign indicates a lower speed limit applies.
