On the 25th of November, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Gordon Dam—an enduring symbol of Tasmania’s pioneering spirit and commitment to renewable energy.

Completed on November 25, 1974, this engineering marvel transformed the rugged southwest into a powerhouse of hydropower innovation. The Gordon Dam not only highlights the ingenuity of those who built it but also stands as a tribute to the communities and workers who made it possible. As we honour this milestone, we reflect on its legacy and the role it continues to play in powering a sustainable future for Tasmania.
