We are committed to leveraging our resources, people and relationships to tackle systematic inequalities in our communities. Below is a snapshot of our education and employment programs, sponsorships and scholarships that help us make a difference.

Many of our employees donate their time to volunteering and we fully support this. We understand that giving up your time can make a big difference in the lives of those who genuinely need support.
Our volunteering program is designed to find and manage opportunities for you to support our communities, during your working hours with paid-leave options available.
We partner with and sponsor a number of organisations in Tasmania and provide frequent opportunities through the year for our people to get involved.
We have a wealth of knowledge and experience within our business, which we want to share with the next generation of thinkers and leaders. It is critical for us, as one of Tasmania's largest employers, to pass on advice to kids on how to seek interviews and understand their career pathway. Our Generation Hydro program inspires students' passion in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), with a focus on renewable energy.
Activities run through Generation Hydro, like power station tours and volunteering with the Beacon Foundation, are a great way for employees to get involved in volunteering and sharing their professional experiences with students.
We support a number of scholarships in Tasmania and nationally, to help provide the best outcomes for children and leaders, and support diversity, equity and inclusion in the national energy and engineering sectors. This includes support for young girls and women in engineering (through the Engineers Australia Driving Diversity Scholarship, and the Clean Energy Council Chloe Munro Scholarship), and LGBTQI+ youth (through the Pinnacle Foundation Hydro Tasmania Scholarship).
Achieving success in any particular career doesn’t happen overnight, and having a strong network for advice can make a profound impact on career progression. In 2021, Mentor Walks, with the support of Hydro Tasmania, began operating in Hobart to provide aspiring women with quality mentoring in Tasmania.
Women across our businesses frequently have the opportunity to make part in these sessions as mentors or mentees. Mentor Walks provides a fun and safe environment to ask questions and have real conversations with a wide range of female leaders across Tasmania.
