As a large organisation, we have the capacity to make a significant and positive difference to the many Australians who have a lived experience of disability.

Our Disability inclusion action plan

Our 2020-2023 DIAP sets four initial focus areas:

1. Create more opportunities for people with disability to engage with us

2. Increase employment opportunities for people with disability

3. Change attitudes towards people with disability

4. Create more inclusive systems and processes.

These goals are informed by State, Federal and international law and policy, including the Tasmanian Government’s Accessible Island: Disability Framework for Action 2018-2021.

We know that over four million people in Australia have some form of disability, and we know that everyone benefits when we improve opportunities for people with disability to access and contribute to our services.

Working towards inclusive recruitment models

We've signed on to RecruitAble, a two-year pilot program aiming to create a successful model for inclusive recruitment in Australia. The program will allow us to review our current recruitment models and provide training for our recruitment team to address the employment gap for people with a disability.

Over the two years, we will be supported by Randstad and Get Skilled Access, headed up by seven-time Australian Open champion, Paralympian and 2022 Australian of the Year, Dylan Alcott. Get Skilled Access supported us to deliver our DIAP in 2020, and we can't wait to get underway with RecruitAble to improve outcomes for all Australians.
